Private Lesson FAQs
Q: Why should we consider couples dance lessons?
A: Many couples find that dancing together strengthens their communication, teamwork, and connection. Dance gives couples a fun skill to do and grow together.
Q: What if we don't want to take a lot of lessons?
A: That's why I keep my private packages in sets of five. Many couples just want a few more fun moves in one or two more styles they can use on date nights and special events.
Q: I'm single. Why would I take couples dance lessons?
A: Private lessons can help you build moves and partner skills you can use to meet new people at bars, out on dates, and at local dance events.
Q: What methodologies do you use to train more serious students?
A: I use a combination of the Gold Star Achievement Standard and the Dance Vision syllabus. This gives your training a clear path while still keeping each lesson tailored to your goals.
Q: What other dance styles do you teach?
A: I teach a variety of ballroom, country, and swing styles. If I don't offer what you're looking for, I'm happy to help point you toward a local teacher or studio that does.
Q: Is bar or club dancing my only option for going out dancing in Colorado Springs?
A: Nope. Colorado Springs has a lot of social dance communities that host events all year round.
Click below to purchase your special introductory lessons for new students, a single private lesson, or a lesson package. The 2-for-1 introductory offer must be fully redeemed within 7 days of the first lesson so students can build on what they learn while it's still fresh. This helps new dancers move forward with more confidence and helps them retain both the steps and the feel of the movement more easily.
Special Events
Whether you're planning a wedding, corporate event, or private celebration, I can bring a fun, beginner-friendly, never-danced experience to your group. I teach both single and partner dancing in a way that feels fun, relaxed, and easy for complete beginners. I'll lead a step-by-step lesson that matches your music, your group, and the energy of your event. Guests can join in whether they arrive solo or as couples, and I'll tailor the experience to fit everything from a quick ice-breaker, to a 45-60 minute feature activity, or a full evening of guided dancing. Ruth Burger
Owner & Lead Instructor
Hi, I'm Ruth Burger, the owner and lead instructor at Colorado Couples Dance here in Colorado Springs. I specialize in helping brand-new, "we've never danced before; I got no rhythm" couples feel confident, connected, and actually excited to step onto the floor together.
I wasn't trained in dance from childhood -- I'm an adult-learner too. I know what it feels like to be in a grown-up body that doesn't always move the way you picture in your head, to worry about looking silly, and to wonder if you can really learn this. That perspective shapes how I teach: detailed, patient, clear, and deeply respectful of where you're starting from.
Over the past several years, I've fallen in love with partner dancing and gone on to compete in UCWDC country dance competitions, earning wins in multiple divisions at events like Colorado Country Classic and Chicagoland. Those experiences gave me a strong technical foundation, but more importantly, they taught me how to break complex movement into simple, doable steps that real people can learn.
Today, my favorite thing is watching couples transform from nervous and stiff to laughing, breathing, and moving as a team. Whether you're preparing for your first dance at your wedding or just wanting to share something new together, my goal is to create a space where you feel cared for, seen, and genuinely supported. You don't have to show up perfect -- you just have to show up, and we'll build the dance journey around you.
